About the Department

In 1947 our college got the affiliation for Sanskrit as Pass subject from the University of Calcutta. In 2005 we got permission to introduce Sanskrit as Honours subjects. In 2008, our affiliation shifted from Calcutta University to West Bengal State University, Barasat. Over last 76 years this department has been playing a major role in the arena of Sanskrit education in the locality and producing a lot of brains to be useful in the different spheres of life. This department has played a vital role in the field of Human resource development by producing excellent scholars who have cherished in their life over these years. Sanskrit is one of the official languages of India and is popularly known as a classical language of the country. It is considered as the mother of all languages. The language is also known for its clarity and beauty. Sanskrit is now attracting the modern world. Sanskrit mantras, when recited in combination with the sound vibration, have a specific effect on the mind and the psyche of the individual. So, the Sanskrit Department of our college has been made enriched with various books in the departmental library which will help the students to learn this language. We have four faculties in Sanskrit Department. Among them, one is an Assistant Professor on UGC scale who is the Head of the Department and three teachers are State Aided College Teachers. In this department we have a computer with Wi-Fi connection. We arrange ICT classes frequently and conduct online classes if needed. We try to make good relationships with the students to fulfill their educational development. For a good human being and a good career always, we try to help our students.
