About the Department

The Department of Education at Dinabandhu Mahavidyalaya commenced its academic journey in 2003 under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta, marking a significant development in the institution’s mission to cultivate future generation. Initially Education introduced as a pass course during the 2003-04 academic session, the department has experienced steady growth in scope and influence. The department achieved a notable milestone in 2011 by securing approval for a three-year Honours degree programme. This transition, accompanied by the department's affiliation with the West Bengal State University, was implemented in the 2011-2014 academic session, offering a more comprehensive and specialized academic framework for studying education. Since its inception, the Department of Education has played an instrumental role in fostering its students' academic and personal development. The department emphasizes not only the expansion of intellectual capacities but also the holistic development of students. Its overarching goal is to cultivate individuals who are not only academically proficient but also compassionate, insightful, and socially responsible. In doing so, the department aims to produce well-equipped graduates who can contribute meaningfully to the educational field and society. By integrating academic rigour with personal growth, the Department of Education has established itself as a critical contributor to student learning and character development, fostering an environment in which both knowledge and ethical values are equally prioritized.
