About the Department

The Bengali Department is one of the oldest departments of the college as well as one of its most prosperous. Established after the ideals of Dinabandhu Mitra and Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, the department has been a window for the young learners to the highly rich and varied would of Bengali literature. Several eminent teachers have honoured the department with their committed services down the years.

The department has added a new dimension of glory with the initiation of postgraduate studies. Being the only PG department of the college, it has been successfully catering to the demand of university level education among not only the local youth but students coming from remote and faraway places, since its inception in 2008. Classes are taken in PG section by reputed teachers from various institutions who are authorities in their own field. Equipped with adequate infrastructure to run both UG and PG streams, the Bengali department has been carrying on its noble task with responsibility.
